Care of Crystals

There is much discussion on how to care for crystals, and honestly I feel it is deeply personal. There are some crystals that cannot go into water and continue to hold their crystalline form because they are made of minerals that will dissolve in water. Salt is one example. Some crystals will lose their color in the sun. Lists of crystals that do not do well in water or light are listed below. While it is not fatal for the crystals to be exposed to the elements that are listed below prolonged exposure to those elements will deteriorate the crystals structure or essence.

Cleansing

People who are concerned with cleansing their crystals can do so in a number of ways: salt, salt water, smudge, earth, light and prayer are common methods. Cleansing should be done when you feel it needs to be. Be that after each use, once a day, once a week, once a month, etc… it is up to you and the individual crystal. Ask, they will tell you.

Storing

Crystals can be kept anywhere you would like them to be. They do not have to be kept in the dark in a box, but can be if that is where you feel it would be best. Some crystals with very sensitive vibrations cannot tolerate being close to other crystals in a room with them; some respond well and love it. Again, it is up to you and the crystal. Trust your intuition, you will know what to do with them.
