When minerals, gasses, pressure and temperature reach specific levels deep within the earth, crystals form. Fluctuation in any of these factors results in the many varieties of crystal formation. When these minerals “crystallize” in nature they reproduce their molecular structure in an uninhibited way. This process creates the beautiful shapes we admire and look for when collecting pieces. Other conditions or elements form a more vein-like crystalline structure – much like our own veins – the minerals are condensed into a narrow path within the other rock of the Earth. If given space (ie a cavity within the rock) what we call crystallization occurs and crystals are formed. Crystals are pure element molecules replicated into a larger form. As such pure specimens of natural Earth elements they contain within them immense power and energy.
This is a question we get a lot and my first thought is “what aren’t they used for!” Quartz crystals are used in computers, TVs, radio, cell phones, lasers, makeup, kitty litter, jewelry, talismans, awards, healing tools, the list goes on. Not all of the crystals used in the modern things we find in that list are natural, most are man-made but based off of and inspired by their Earth-given ancestors. We at RockStar focus on the uses of natural crystals given from the Earth, and carry them in their natural forms.
At RockStar we work with, and educate about, Crystals for healing in a variety of forms, jewelry – as healing and self expression – inspiration, and meditation allies, to name a few.
The accepted science of physics – literally defined as the study of energy - has affirmed that matter is made up of molecules, and that the molecules that make up matter are made up of smaller bits we call atoms, and that those smaller bits called atoms are made up of two primary particles: positively charged protons that form a nucleus and negatively charged electrons that rapidly spin around the nucleus. These particles are bonded by an electromagnet attraction. That long sentence is a way of saying; the atoms that make up our world are considered to be vibrating energy particles (protons and electrons) that through their connective electromagnetic force, bond with each other to form all of creation.
The differences in the material - and expressions of energy - of this world are literally a variation in vibration. There are tools used in modern scientific research to study the various rates of vibration in matter, and these tools have begun to prove what many ancient cultures have said about the human body and the world around us, for millennia. As we use these tools to study the natural world around use we have begun to see how the plants, herbs, crystals, foods, sounds, colors and mental practices passed down through ancient human history, hold under scientific study. We are finding these things do exactly what the traditions say they do. For example sage smoke has been used to ‘smudge’ space and people for many generations as a way to rid of unwanted energies and connect with a higher spiritual plane, or realm. When studied it was found that sage smoke releases negative ions which are able to bond with and stabilize any unbalanced – or “ion-needy” – molecules. We also know that it is the imbalance in molecules that leads to a whole host of issues for our bodies, as it is a cause at the root of dis-eases. Lightening storms also release an abundance of negative ions, cold running water, the ocean waves, and so do crystals.
It is in the understanding that we are all energy – all variations of conscious energy – that we choose to write human as hue-man; to remind us of our essence as energy be-ing.
Crystals are pure manifestations of the Earth’s elements. Many of these elements are also found within the body. Some of the common minerals we find in crystals, as well as within our bodies, are silica, salts, calcium, magnesium and iron. Once we understand how the elements work within our bodies we can look to the crystals and see where they find resonance with us. As with hypnotherapy, aromatherapy, sound-healing, color -therapy and other ‘alternative’ therapies the understanding is that the introduction of another frequency/ element/material will help you alter your frequency – your rate of vibration – to the desired balance.
In the understanding that everything is vibration it is also understood there are higher and lower variations or rates in vibration. When we are speaking of higher rates of vibration or higher frequencies, we are speaking of an elevated rate of energy vibration, and the same for lower vibration and frequency. It does not mean good or bad but gives us an indication to the state of the being or energy we are working with. We find this terminology a lot in our expressions of emotion. If we are happy we can say we are feeling “up” and indicate an elevated, joyful mood. On the other end if we are sad we can say we are feeling “down” and we can express feelings of being low, or stuck. Myth and Religion have shaped these levels in vibration through stories and traditions. While there is argument for truth in the essence of these teachings we refrain from attaching labels of good or bad to levels in frequency.
The human body is the most complex system we know of and only know how part of it works, and even that part we are still learning about. All of those systems are systems of energy vibration and variation, endlessly working, endlessly renewing. The body is made to heal itself. This is an important thing to understand.
The human body systems are self-sustaining and just now are the western medical scientists beginning to understand how deeply our conscious waking awareness affects the balance and function of these systems. Stress is the most common example, all of the physical dis-eases stress provides a glimpse into the power our mental balance has over our physical body. It isn’t always easy to identify imbalances within the bodies systems, and it is often more difficult to re-balance, so Nature gave us gifts in the foods and herbs we eat, the tea we drink – chamomile, the aromas available – lavender, the crystals, etc.
Through working to understand the elements and their vibrations Crystal workers identify crystals that are able to give the energy appropriate for the re-balancing of any dis-ease within body and aid in its efforts to heal. Understanding this helped the ancient traditions that used the Earth around them to help heal and live abundant lives, and can help us to do the same. Once people begin to work with ourselves as systems of energy many find an increase in their sense of control, self, and endless possibilities in the world around them.
Crystal therapy’s success comes from the fact that the energy of the crystal reaches all levels of the human form, both tangible and unseen. We can study how the minerals influence the human energy system by learning the elements found in the crystal, by paying attention to how we feel when we are with a certain crystal, and through how our bodies, minds and spirits react to the crystals.
Crystal energy can be utilized in many ways. The most important thing is the intent for the crystal’s energy to influence the human life and the individual receiving the benefits of the energy. The intention is there the first time you move towards a crystal in a conscious way. It continues when you carry, wear or do energy healing with crystals and when you place them in your home/work environment. Crystals can be used in prayer or meditation. You can also add a crystal to the family water pitcher or create elixirs, allowing the crystal’s vibration to treat your body from the inside out. Crystals emit their energy without intention, but it is with our intent, when we ask for the energy to aid in healing, that allows the crystal’s vibration to affect our energy.
Each person has their own way of choosing crystals. The following are just a few ways I recommend.
